A
tour of Poughkeepsie isn’t complete until you’ve been to Andy’s
Place.
The restaurant was founded in 1948 as Andy’s and Steve’s. It became Andy’s Place in 1977, and owner Andy
Tkazyik is often on hand to welcome visitors.
The bar room, back room and the deck are the
three major dining areas. The deck provides a
nice view of the Hudson River and is very popular among regulars.
The bar allows visitors to watch a game
or comfortably share a drink with friends. Historical
photographs of Poughkeepsie cover the walls, and several large
televisions play sports and news.
The menu consists of a variety of choices such as burgers,
sandwiches, pasta, sides and entrees. A
must-try is Andy’s famous chili,
which
has won Best in the Hudson Valley several times.
It’s a family recipe of course.
Other good choices are the New England clam chowder, The Pizza
Burger, and The Monroe.
Come by and say hello to Andy and John
Tkazyik. We look forward to talking with you.
